Cuboid challenges players of all ages in a variety of mind-bending ways to flip and rotate the game’s main object – the ancient artifact Cuboid - to stand on and pass through a level’s mystical exit as fast and with as few moves as possible, all-the-while being careful not to fall off the map.

Starting with simple concrete surfaces, players will find Cuboid easy to play, however, as gameplay advances, players are faced with intriguing obstacles such as fragile tiles, switches, teleporters, or levels that impose move limits to complete the maps.

Based on an original PlayStation title, Cuboid is a 3D puzzler where you swipe/roll a block around a floating maze with the end goal of slotting it through a hole… hmmmm, this actually might sound a little banal… but that’s one thing this app is not.

As we often mention here, puzzle apps abound in the store, and it seems a million float through our email system each week. As no one working on this site is particularly smart, we often find puzzle based apps too… ummm puzzling…

Nevertheless, there was a strong dev team behind this release, so why not… and 30-seconds later I found myself a little hooked.

I’m not one to think in a 3D-way; my favourite colours are black and white, I like my lines to be straight. So it was with interest that I found myself swiping this bloody piece of rock around the screen trying desperately to roll it in the correct sequence so that when I up-ended it, it would drop down a small hole. How can anything seemingly so simple confuse me so much?

This is not to say its the most impossible thing in the world… no, I slowly started to master the concept, became faster, starting looking three steps ahead… and just when I was thinking “I got this sucker wrapped up’, the game throws in curve balls… tiles than can’t hold the block alone, teleporters… by then, I knew I was in way too deep to get out again.

Besides being especially pleased that I had found an enjoyable and challenging puzzle app, its not just the gameplay that’s the hook. Graphics are clean and smooth, SFX well done and suited, overall a holistic experience.

For its simplicity and its complexity, this is a great app.

The game illustrates literally and humorously hundreds of everyday English idioms such as “You are what you eat” and “ants in the pants”.

Try to imagine a real case of “butterflies in the stomach”, “monkey business”, or a “rat race”. The aim of the game is for players to guess as many idioms as they can from the paintings, or hunt for them from a list.

This is a rich and detailed app, reminiscent of the highly crafted works of Toytek. Based on the painting by T.E Breitenbach you are charged with looking at a series of paintings over-flowing with proverbs and idioms. Some hit you in the face like the wet slap of snapper, others require more deduction, and some (when you find out the answer) leave you with a ‘Why didn’t I think of that!!’ feeling.

Apps of all shape and sizes come and go, and now more than ever people are looking for quality for their money. Proverbidioms not only provides the highest quality, its provides you with a load of quantity. Few apps (especially puzzle based) provide such a ride, and even fewer allow for a sharing experience. This app (for iPad only) is fun solo, but jump on it with someone else, and its the modern day equivalent of sharing the Sunday crossword.

Highly recommended for the wordsmiths out there, but also for those of you with long commutes, puzzle-freaks, long breakfasts, gray-matter expanders….

Wonderfully executed, great to play, this app will remain a constant on your iPad.

The name should be good enough to get you interested in this app… add to that, that the developer of this has done some awesome work in the past, including the huge series Doodle Army, there should be little holding you back.

The style is like an endless runner… except this is a bird… so you’d expect to call it an endless flyer… except this bird is fat and lazy as hell. You can fly him for bits or hitch rides on the backs of, or in the talons of, various woodland creatures.

Fun app, offers more than a few giggles, and Flip, well, he’s a bird you’ll learn to love.

Great idea, smooth design, so simple I wonder why no one thought of it before!
